Metro has approved new summer unis for their bus drivers, allowing those behind the wheel to switch from the usual stock shirt and slacks to a more breathable polo and cargo shorts combo. It’s not a terrible look, to be honest — light blue and dark blue convey that sense of authority, but the polo and shorts say party time! (Metro emphasizes that drivers choosing to don the polo/shorts combo will still have to tuck in their shirts. To this I say: good luck enforcing that.) The cranky among you might argue that since plenty of Metrobuses usually have the air conditioning on full blast on these hot summer days, what’s the point? But I’ll be damned if I’m going to cast judgment on any Metrobus driver who chooses to wear this. Besides, it’s just way too hot to argue about anything right now.
