Photo by anaxolotlThere is a lot of raw emotion on the Argonaut’s website today following the fire early Sunday that damaged the beloved H Street Northeast establishment. The restaurant received dozens upon dozens of messages of support via Twitter and email, which they’ve reproduced on the website. This stuff warms the heart — especially messages of material support, like the note from the architect who offered his services to help the Argonaut rebuild.
Those non-architects in the audience should know that there is a way to help. A week from Wednesday, the Rock ‘n Roll Hotel is turning out its upstairs for an Argonaut benefit. For $20, attendees will enjoy complimentary drinks. Entertainment is to be announced, and it looks as if the RNR is organizing a silent auction. All proceeds will go to the Argonaut.
The City Paper’s Tim Carman caught Argonaut owner Joe Englert by phone, and Englert says that he hopes to have the Argonaut reopened by August.
