Former Top Chef contestant Spike Mendelsohn’s New York-style pizza joint has been a long time coming. But now we know that We, the Pizza is set to open next door to Good Stuff Eatery on July 12. The pizzeria will feature regional ingredients like creamed spinach, pancetta and shaved truffles as well as the usual standards like pepperoni and mozzarella.

For those who are only peckish and or in the mood for a post-bar binge, you’ll be able to get your pizza by the slice (that is, if you can get there before the 11 p.m. closing time). If you’re not interested in pizza, the restaurant will also offer Italian sandwiches and house-made gelato. There will also be an old-fashioned soda fountain serving Italian sodas. (But seriously, one called “Love You Long Time Lemon Lime”? It may be a movie reference, but not a very Italian one. I know that I, for one, will not love you a long time.)

The bigger question: will all the cranky New Yorkers love the New York-style pizza?
