Photo by philliefan99.Good morning, Washington. What is this 68 I see in the upper left-hand corner of our fair website? Surely, that can’t be the temperature — it’s only been recently that I’ve just given up and assumed that showers would be a twice-daily occurrence from now until October. What’s that? The weather predictors say that the rest of this week will be miraculously humidity-free and about as pleasant as one could imagine? Well, that’s just swell — a better hump day present, I couldn’t have imagined.
Tapes of Wone Murder Investigation Interrogations Released: With a civil suit on the horizon, prosecutors have released tape recordings of the police interrogations of Joseph Price, Dylan Ward and Victor Zaborsky, exonerated defendants in the now-complete Wone obstruction trial. During one interview, defendant Joseph Price admitted to moving the murder weapon off of Wone’s lifeless body, despite “knowing better,” affirming Superior Court Judge Lynn Leibovitz’s assertion in her decision that Price “very likely tampered with and altered the murder weapon.” On the tapes, Price, Ward and Zaborsky maintain that an intruder murdered Wone. In her verdict, Leibovitz concluded that the crime “was not committed by an intruder unknown to the defendants.”
File Under Interesting Timing: Within an hour of one another yesterday, the D.C. Chamber of Commerce endorsed Vincent Gray for Mayor while the Greater Washington Board of Trade endorsed incumbent Adrian Fenty. A city’s economy, divided!
Just Keeps Getting Better For MARC: Turns out that Maryland Transportation Secretary Beverley K. Swaim-Staley was on a MARC train on Monday. There were quite a few delays on MARC trains that day, and Swaim-Staley was most displeased, ordering a full review of the agency in light of the myriad of service issues which have plagued the system in the last few weeks. Amtrak, who operates and maintains MARC, ended up apologizing for Monday’s issues. If you use MARC, the Maryland Transportation Authority will be at Union Station today between 5 and 6:30 p.m. to hear your gripes.
2010 Congressional Baseball Game: Democrats top Republicans, 13-5, after scoring nine runs in the seventh and final inning at Nationals Park. Obviously, the GOP just wanted to keep up the tradition of incredibly poor relief pitching on the shores of the Anacostia.
