Even though it will be difficult to top one of the best NCAA Tournaments in recent memory, local college basketball fans can already start looking forward to next season — and that means the BB&T Classic.
The Classic returns to a triple-header format for the first time since 2007 this year. The 2010 edition’s marquee game will feature the Maryland Terrapins against the Temple Owls in an ACC/Atlantic-10 match-up. Both teams reached the Tournament last season, in addition to raising banners as their respective conference’s champions. The tournament will also feature a rematch between George Washington and Navy. The Colonials beat the Mids 81-69 in last year’s Classic. Finally, Florida, who last competed in the BB&T in the Classic’s first year (1995), returns to D.C. to take on American University in a rare SEC/Patriot League battle.
All three games will take place at the Verizon Center on Sunday, December 5.
