Vincent Orange, who is taking on Kwame Brown in the race to replace Vince Gray as D.C. Council Chairman, has adopted the strategy of calling Brown “Mr. Mistake” as part of his campaign, hopping on errors the current At-Large Councilmember makes whenever he can. True to form, the Orange camp (which is now tweeting!) sent out a press release on Saturday titled “Mr. Mistake Is At It Again,” accusing Brown of getting his facts wrong during that day’s Ward 7 Candidates’ Forum. Apparently, while he was discussing Friday’s DCPS firings and the IMPACT evaluations, Brown made the mistake of mixing up numbers. Nothing much to see here, really.

Well, if you’re going to brand your stiffest opposition “Mr. Mistake,” you may want to instruct your campaign staff to thoroughly double-check that you’ve got the spelling of people’s names correct. Otherwise, you’ll end up having to send out another email the next day with a big capital “*CORRECTION*” right before you dub your opponent “Mr. Mistake.”

Whoops. (The original release had misspelled Dorothy Brizill’s name.) Perhaps Orange can take solace in knowing that this wasn’t even close to the most egregious correction of the weekend.
