David Nalbandian’s solid ground game won the day at the 2010 Legg Mason Final.

David Nalbandian, an unranked wild card entry, defeated eighth-seeded Marcos Baghdatis yesterday to win the 2010 Legg Mason Tennis Classic, held at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center in Rock Creek Park. Nalbandian is the third Argentinean to win the championship in the last three years. (Nalbandian’s country-mate Juan Martin del Potro, who had won the 2008 and 2009 Legg Mason titles, did not enter this year’s tournament due to a wrist injury.) It is the first ATP championship for Nalbandian since January 2009 — a big step for a player whose ranking had slipped from #3 in the world in 2006, all the way to 117th at the beginning of the Legg Mason.
