Photo from Food NetworkThe food truck craze appears to be following the exact route of the cupcake craze. First, there was the influx of establishments, then came the TV show. That’s right, food trucks are no longer just popping up at every corner in the District; they’ll also now be appearing on the Food Network in The Great Food Truck Race.
Premiering this Sunday, August 15 at 10 p.m., The Great Food Truck Race features seven real food trucks (originating overwhelmingly from California) driving across America toward a final prize of $50,000. In each episode, the trucks compete to sell the most food. The truck that sells the least is eliminated. This aspect of the show makes sense.
But D.C. — and the entire East Coast, for that matter — is currently not represented on the show. Bummer. There is a way for you to help remedy that. The Food Network is holding a contest where you can nominate your favorite food truck for a chance to join the race. Which D.C. truck would you want to see on the show?
