Robert Wone

The folks over at Who Murdered Robert Wone? have some details about the wrongful death suit being pursued by Robert Wone’s widow. According to court documents, it looks as though the civil trial could begin sometime next summer, with an anticipated court date in the end of June 2011.

As you may recall, back in June all three defendants were found not guilty of obstruction and evidence tampering. That was the only criminal trial to stem from the 2006 murder on Swann Street in Dupont Circle.

In the criminal trial, D.C. Superior Court Judge Lynn Leibovitz found Joseph Price, 39, Dylan Ward, 39, and Victor Zaborsky, 44 not guilty, but indicated that she believed Price “very likely altered” the knife used to kill Wone. Leibovitz also stated that she believed the murderer was “not an intruder.”

The wrongful death suit is being pursued by Wone’s widow, Kathy Wone. Wone’s attorney, Ben Razi, is arguing for a longer discovery period for the civil case, and is also citing Judge Leibovitz’s decision in the criminal case. The defense is hoping to speed along the case, with a discovery period ending in December of this year. Wone and her attorney would like that extended into March, which would give more time to prepare for the case. The civil trial had been stayed for 16 months.

Wone’s civil suit is against all three men, and was filed back in November of 2008.
