In a battle between Major League Soccer’s two worst sides, D.C. United relied on a pair of goals from Danny Allsopp to win their first game in league play in over two months.

The Union paid dearly for a pair of mistakes which led directly to United goals — the first, a poor clearance by Danny Califf which gifted Allsopp the ball about six yards from goal; the second, a turnover by Kyle Nakazawa which turned to a rapid-fire United counter attack. The weather — just as sloppy as the Union’s errors — played just as much a part in the proceedings, as a torrential rain began to fall shortly after Allsopp’s opener.
