At BOEE, paper ballots will be closed out first, then electronic voting machines.

Good evening, readers. We’ll be updating with results and news regarding the Democratic primaries, polling places for which — as of 6 p.m. — are still scheduled to close at 8 tonight. Martin Austermuhle is currently on the streets, and he’ll be filling us in with information from the headquarters of the Board of Elections and Ethics and elsewhere throughout the evening. Grab some popcorn, and join us in the comments with your thoughts.

2:00 a.m.: Okay, folks, we’re going to call it a night. Vince Gray has declared victory and the AP has called the race (though Adrian Fenty has yet to officially concede). We feel pretty safe projecting that Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (90.01 percent) and Ward 3 Councilmember Mary Cheh (93.68 percent) have won their primaries. Things also look very good for Kwame Brown, the four Council incumbents, Phil Mendelson, Jim Graham, Harry Thomas and Tommy Wells and Shadow Representatives Mike Panetta. Here’s where the elections stand at this minute, with 128 of 143 precincts and early voting figures counted:

Council Chair
Kwame Brown – 54.86%
Vince Orange – 39.00%

At-Large Council
Phil Mendelson – 63.45%
Michael Brown – 27.37%
Clark Ray – 8.65%

Ward 1 Council
Jim Graham – 57.33%
Jeff Smith – 21.40%
Bryan Weaver – 21.00%

Ward 5 Council
Harry Thomas – 62.05%
Delano Hunter – 20.07%
Kenyan McDuffie – 13.77%

Ward 6 Council
Tommy Wells – 74.88%
Kelvin Robinson – 24.66%

Shadow Representative
Mike Panetta – 56.51%
Nate Bennett-Fleming – 41.09%

Thanks to all for sticking around tonight — we’ll have more coverage of all of this tomorrow. Good night, everyone!
