Today marks the beginning of D.C. Fashion Week, and DCist will be celebrating by interviewing a different local designer every day this week. Today, we talk to Dana Ayanna Greaves of ARTAYA.
Can you tell me more about the philosophy behind ARTAYA — do you feel that the Washington, D.C. area is a supportive environment for what you call “the bohemian boss”?
ARTAYA is designed for a woman who is culturally curious and able to balance whimsy and wit. In Washington, D.C., she can find diverse venues that appreciate her playfulness and intelligence.
What are we seeing in the photos?
The pictures that Kevin photographed showcase the fall ARTAYA collection of reconstructed garments. The designs reflect scenes found in nature with an multi-culti twist. He also photographed my new store ARTAYA located at 1425 Wisconsin Avenue NW (middle suite), which is open Thursdays-Sundays.
