>> Bassist Pascal Niggenkemper, a rising star in New York’s jazz scene, will pay a visit to Twins Jazz with his trio on Thursday. Tickets are $10 for the 8 and 10 p.m. sets, plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

>> Earlier this year, we profiled the Joshua Redman Trio, a band that never fails to deliver an exciting performance. >> Pianist Dave Burrell has had a distinguished career stretching back to the 1960s and his credits include stints with Archie Shepp, Pharoah Sanders, and a host of others. Burrell will bring his blues and gospel rooted sound to Joe’s Movement Emporium on Friday, where he will deliver a solo recital. 8 p.m. $15.
