Presumptive Mayor-elect Vince Gray heads back to “unfriendly” territory tonight: he’ll host a town hall in Ward 2, 72 percent of which sided with Mayor Adrian Fenty in the Democratic primary. This is the fourth of Gray’s eight town halls scheduled throughout October; so far, Gray has hit Ward 5, Ward 3 and Ward 7. The Ward 2 town hall comes only a day after D.C. Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee announced her resignation, so while Gray keeping her or not will no longer be an elephant in the room, there may still be some pointed questions on school reform. Interim Chancellor Kaya Henderson said she may attend some of the town halls; this might be one of them, but nothing’s confirmed yet. The town hall will take place at the Foundry United Methodist Church (1500 16th Street NW) from 6:30-8:30 p.m. We’ll be there again, and if you attend, use the #ward2 hashtag or shoot me your thoughts at martin (at) dcist (dot) com.
