The District’s public schools are now offering a third meal to kids who are spending most of their day being enlightened, says Bill Turque. And why not? From a theoretical standpoint, it makes total sense: it keeps kids fed, feeds them healthier food — for the most part — then they’re getting at home and allows parents the flexibility to allow kids to participate in after-school programs.
So what are D.C.’s students eating for supper? Since DCPS’ food menus are split between every school in the District and at each level of education (elementary, middle, high and other campuses), we picked one school at random to look over: Garrison Elementary at 1200 S Street NW was the lucky winner. What’s for dinner at Garrison this month — and a few thoughts on the menu — after the jump.
