Image courtesy DCPSWTOP reports that one of the four individuals charged with killing popular Shaw Middle School principal Brian Betts will enter a guilty plea today. Betts, who was 42, was found dead in his Silver Spring home in mid-April. In total, five people have been arrested in connection with the crime.
Alante Saunders, a 19-year-old whose fingerprints were found on Betts’ SUV which was stolen after the murder and later found inside the District, will make an appearance in Montgomery County Circuit Court this afternoon. Though defense counsel wouldn’t comment, Saunders is expected to enter a guilty plea. Saunders is one of four individuals who have been charged with murder in the Betts case — all four will be tried separately. It was reported back in July that each of the individuals charged with Betts’ murder were blaming the others for the crime.
