Jose Andres proclaims The Source’s Scott Drewno the victor

The Source‘s Scott Drewno came out on top at D.C. Central Kitchen’s 7th annual Capital Food Fight, which took place last night at the Ronald Reagan Building. The Fight pitted Chefs Victor Albisu (BLT Steak), Will Artley (Evening Star Cafe), Spike Mendelsohn (Good Stuff Eatery and We, the Pizza) and Drewno against each other in an Iron Chef-style cooking competition.

Drewno is no stranger to winning cooking competitions. So it wasn’t much of a surprise that the competition narrowed to a showdown between Drewno and Mendelsohn. Drewno’s winning scallop dish proved that you can win cooking competitions with scallops, while Mendelsohn seemed to forget that old tenet — you don’t win friends with salad.

Attendees also received a special treat, as they witnessed a competition between pairings of Food Fight host Jose Andres and judge Tom Colicchio versus judge Eric Ripert and fellow host Anthony Bourdain.

The event raised a cool $500,000 for the charity, which provides food for the homeless, utilizes excess food from local businesses, provides culinary job training and caters meals for businesses and D.C. public schools. You can view more photos from the event on DC Central Kitchen’s Flickr set.
