Photo by LaTur.Every Metro line will experience delays due to track maintenance and repairs this weekend. Metro will be performing some big work on Saturday and Sunday, like welding, installing cross ties and performing upkeep on bridges and platforms — so be sure to check out this list before you head out. Metro recommends building in a 30 minute delay for travel on all lines starting this evening and ending at closing on Sunday.
Red Line:
>> Between the Shady Grove and Twinbrook Metrorail stations, trains will single-track from 8 p.m. Friday through closing on Sunday so that Metro can repair a deteriorating platform at the Rockville station.
>> Between the New York Ave-Florida Ave-Gallaudet University and Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood Metrorail stations, trains will single-track from 10 p.m. Friday through closing on Sunday so that Metro can repair the track between the two stations.
>> On Saturday and Sunday, Red Line trains will depart approximately every 15 minutes from the termini at Shady Grove and Glenmont. Trains between the Grosvenor-Strathmore and New York Ave-Florida Ave-Gallaudet University Metrorail stations will operate about every 8 to 9 minutes all weekend.
Orange Line:
>> Between the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU and West Falls Church-VT/UVA Metrorail stations, trains will single-track from 10 p.m. Friday through closing on Sunday. Riders should add at least 30 minutes to their travel time as Metro replaces cross ties.
>> As has been the case for the last several weekends, every other Orange Line train in the direction of Vienna/Fairfax-GMU on Saturday and Sunday will terminate at West Falls Church-VT/UVA — if you need to go beyond West Falls Church, you might need to wait for the next train.
