Yours truly was doing a little perusing of the offerings on the ol’ YouTube last night, when I stumbled over the glorious video above. Seems innocuous enough, right? It’s just Freewayjim — a person who drives around the country with a camera strapped to the dash of his car to record the drive for posterity, or something — taking a ride around the highways of northern Virginia and the District. But hammering down what makes this video so great is no small feat.

Is it because this is totally the kind of thing that would have gotten ten million views if YouTube existed in 1983? Is it the fact that it is scored by Toto’s “Home of the Brave”? Is it the passive-aggressive note at the two-minute mark lamenting “another no good reason slowdown” around the curve as Jim merges into the District? Is it the hilariously awful political joke Jim makes as drives on I-395? Is it the fact that Jim felt the need to illustrate where the Pentagon was as he drove past it via its photo on a postcard?

I’ll leave these decisions to you, dear reader.
