Whether you’re celebrating the holiday with friends and family, by devouring some tax meat instead of giving it to the homeless or simply taking some alone time to catch up with the couch, we hope you have an enjoyable day of food, football and relaxation.

We’re taking the day off too — but if you’re visiting us on Thanksgiving, you’re probably looking for a diversion from…whatever. Fortunately for you, there is cool stuff going on in the District today — DCist events contributor extraordinaire Elisabeth Grant was kind enough to put together some recommendations for those in need of something to do. (Note: most of these events should not conflict with that epic nap you have planned.)

HAPPY HOUR: After you’ve eaten all you can, head over to Duffy’s Irish Pub (2106 Vermont Avenue NW) for their open beer bar. Twenty bucks gets you all you can drink from the 12 taps (Dogfish Head 60 Minute, Guinness, Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold, Pilsner Urquell, Heineken, Yuengling, Peroni, Kilkenny, Ommegang Witte, Miller Lite, Sam Adams, Sam Adams Seasonal) and or bottled and can beer (Magner’s Irish Cider, Smithwick’s, PBR, Miller Lite, Bud Light, Bud, Miller High Life, Natty Boh). 7 p.m. $20.

>> Bourbon (2321 18th Street NW) in Adams Morgan presents “Night of the Kicking Chicken,” an all-night happy hour featuring $2 off draft beers and $4 Wild Turkey drinks. They’ll also be tapping a keg of Founders Backwoods Bastard beer, and anything from Founders is worth checking out. 9 p.m. Free to get in.

>> The Washington Post’s Going Out Gurus have put together a line-up of bars which are open tonight. Put together your very own Thanksgiving bar crawl!

FOOD & DRINK: Head to the Black Squirrel (2427 18th Street NW) tonight for a $5 Thanksgiving buffet featuring all the hits: turkey, ham and sides. 7 p.m. $5.

>> Eat tonight at Art and Soul (415 New Jersey Avenue NW) and experience a Southern-style Thanksgiving with buttermilk biscuits and buttermilk mashed potatoes, bourbon maple glazed ham, turkey, collard greens and more. They’ll even give you a roast turkey sandwich, gravy and cranberry sauce to take home with you. 11 a.m.-9 p.m., $65 for adults and $25 for children. Call (202) 393-7777 for reservations.

>> Equinox (818 Connecticut Avenue NW) features an oyster roast as the highlight of its Thanksgiving menu — check out your options for the other three courses. 3-7 p.m. $55 per person.

>> Bibiana (1100 New York Avenue NW) presents a three-course Italian take on Thanksgiving. $45 per person.

MUSIC: Surf-punk band Donovan Frankenreiter performs at the 9:30 Club (815 V Street NW) along with Ximena Sarinana. 8 p.m. $21.

>> DJ Ian Svenonius spins at the Velvet Lounge (915 U Street NW) while $2 Natty Bohs flow from the bar. 10:30 p.m. Free.
