WORLD AIDS DAY: Observe World AIDS Day at “Red Hot Night,” a cocktail party benefiting the Whitman-Walker Clinic at Urbana (2121 P Street NW). The $10 admission fee includes one drink ticket and Western Mediterranean small plate prepared by Urbana’s kitchen. Additional drink tickets are $5. There will also be a silent auction benefiting the clinic. 6 p.m., following the 5:30 p.m. World AIDS Day Candlelight Vigil at Dupont Circle.
LIGHTING: See the National Chanukah Menorah Lighting on the Ellipse, the first night of Chanukah. Violinst Itzhak Perlman will perform, “The Three Cantors” will sing and there will be hot latkes and donuts. 4 p.m. Free, but tickets are required (call 202-332-5600 or go online).
FOOD & DRINK: Cork Market and Tasting Room (1805 14th Street NW) is hosting a free latke and sparkling wine tasting. They’ll have classic potato latkes as well as zucchini and leek varieties. 6-8 p.m. Free.
MOVIE: Head to the Black Squirrel (2427 18th Street NW) for Epic Movie Night Holiday Version, featuring a screening of The Nightmare Before Christmas, preceded by a Ludachristmas Happy Hour pre-game. Wear a tacky Christmas sweater and receive drink specials. 6:30 p.m. for happy hour, 7:30 p.m. for the movie. Free admission.
