Our sister site Gothamist brought our attention to the above map, created by Very Small Array, which labels each American state and the District of Columbia with the first autocomplete suggestion that popped up when the name of the jurisdiction was entered into Google last Friday night. While most of the union is represented by universities and sports teams, the good ol’ D. of C. is represented by the landmark District of Columbia v. Heller Supreme Court case. Our hometown newspaper of record also made the map, as Washington state’s autocomplete.

While being represented by a piece of judicial history might not be as exciting as, say, Kentucky Fried Chicken, at least we aren’t Nevada (represented by a soccer pub on Manhattan’s lower east side) or Delaware (well, that kind of makes sense).
