Good morning, Washington. It appears as if today might be the day when the other shoe drops for several of Adrian Fenty’s prominent agency chiefs — Mike DeBonis tweets that “some agency directors were given walking papers” yesterday as part of Vince Gray’s transition, and Michael Neibauer notes that he’s heard that Linda Argo at the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs and Bryan Sivak at the Office of the Chief Technology Officer were among them. This morning, District Department of Transportation head Gabe Klein will make a brief statement at the Reeves Center — and NBCWashington says that Klein will announce that he’s been let go.

This Isn’t The Gym You’re Looking For: Interesting stuff from Freeman Klopott, who reports that the Metropolitan Police Department is apparently building a gym for Chief Cathy Lanier on a secure floor of MPD headquarters. In a fun experiment in semantics, MPD told Klopott via email that they weren’t building a gym, but an “open space for group fitness activities.” The police told the Examiner that the space would be open to “members of the department,” even though it is located on a secure floor of the department’s headquarters to which only Lanier and her staff have access.

Vince Gray’s Fence Will (Probably) Rise Again: Ann Marimow reports in the Post that a fence around Mayor-elect Vince Gray’s Hillcrest home might go back up after Gray is sworn in as the city’s chief executive. The Metropolitan Police Department has apparently requested to erect a security fence and a guard in front of Gray’s home, a cost which would be covered by the city — the plans are to move the guard booth from Mayor Adrian Fenty’s home in Crestwood. Gray, who had argued for months with the city’s government about the fence he had built, took down a portion of the fence this July — the new fence still technically has to pass the Public Space Committee.

Busy 24 Hours For Police in Southwest: D.C. police are investigating a death on the unit block of Galveston Place SW, in which a woman was found inside her apartment with an cut to her neck. Police were being very tight-lipped about details, a suspect in the investigation and the identity of the deceased. Police are also investigating the death of a man who was found in an alley along the 1300 block of N Street SW this morning.

Briefly Noted: 18-year-old raped at gunpoint in Gaithersburg retirement home…GGW covers the transportation aspects of yesterday’s approved budget…Uncertainty about Metro governance not helping search for new general manager…Water main breaks increasing as winter arrives…Catholic men’s group to picket local porn shops in an attempt to restore “authentic sense of masculinity.”…New York Times to Hill staffers: you’re too fat.

This Day in DCist: Last year, a MPD officer shot a pitbull after it attacked a woman in Cleveland Park, and the Post was toying with the price of the newspaper.
