Perhaps you’d like more information about the company’s plan to slightly raise rates in order to pay for preventative power outage maintenance work? Maybe you’d like to discuss with an executive the results of the study which concluded Pepco was an unreliable utility? Want to pick Pepco’s brain about their somewhat illegible fees and charges? Well, tomorrow’s your chance: Pepco President Tom Graham will take to Twitter and field questions from customers about their service and what Pepco’s doing to try and make it better. The live-tweet Q&A will take place between 1:30 and 2:30 tomorrow afternoon; those with questions should just include somewhere @PepcoConnect with their tweeted question during that hour.
It is an interesting PR idea. But considering that educated responses to many customer’s questions will likely demand more than 140 characters (or less, depending on how long the user’s Twitter handle is), we’re not sold on this being that useful. It’s admirable to see that Pepco is attempting to reach out the the Twittersphere in light of recent developments, but we wonder how many substantive answers Graham will be able to provide given Twitter’s space limitations. Pepco spokesperson Andre Francis did tell us that Graham will be answering overflow questions via email — that document may prove more useful for those searching for answers to their electricity queries.
