As anyone who’s been to a store in the past two months knows, Christmas is upon us. The Scrooges are getting scroogier, while other folks are getting excited. There are tree lightings, caroling, Santa bar crawls and so on. We do appreciate holiday-related efforts to cheer the mundane things up, though.

Overheard of the Week

On a Metro bus pulling out of Pentagon station:

Metro bus driver stands up to make an announcement to a fairly empty bus: “The Christmas party is at the Ritz Carlton.”
Passenger: “Whose Christmas party?”
Driver: “This bus.”
Passenger: “Oh, that would be nice.”
Driver: “So you’ll have to tell me what music you want. But I ran a little low on funds, so we need to have a car wash. See, anyone can wash their car in the heat…but not everyone can do it in this cold.”

Driver after departing the station, continuing to talk: “If we can’t do a car wash, then we’ll have to have a splash-off at the nearest pool.” (Pauses) “Now who wants to come up here and sing a Christmas song to get in the spirit?”

After the jump, weird places in D.C., catchy new rhythms, and more. As always, Overheard in D.C. depends on you to send in what you hear. Make sure you give the context: who was talking, where they were, when it was, etc.
