PETA doesn’t actually take offense to the depiction of rats as the bad guy in the classic ballet, but rather the ballet-goers sartorial choices. PETA has been protesting the Washington Ballet’s production the past few days, targeting the audience members who chose to wear fur. Dressed as a bunny in a tutu (don’t you know fur is tutu cruel), PETA protesters were seen mostly as funny to passerbys. Apparently as protesters approached probable fur-wearers, all claimed the fur they wore was faux.
