It’s annoying when you’re filling out online forms and under “state,” D.C. is listed as “Washington, DC” instead of just “DC”. But you get used to it — it’s just some lazy programmer on some website, and the world keeps spinning. Google, however, should know better. The Internet search giants appear to have rigged Google Maps so that any address search in D.C. comes back with a location of “Washington D.C., DC”. Try it yourself! Maybe they liked us so much, they named us twice.
You can report the problem to Google by right-clicking on the map anywhere. Or maybe send them a letter — they’re based in Mountain View, CA, CA.
