What’s former mayor Adrian Fenty up to these days? It’s been a whole three days since he passed the torch over to the new guy and, last we heard, he was thinking about heading back to Oberlin College to teach political science. Of course, Fenty also said that he was “literally exploring everything” when it came to his next job.
So we weren’t surprised when Mike DeBonis broke the news that Fenty will now be pulling in some checks by speaking about being a — get ready for the corporate-speak! — “national leader in the area of urban education reform.” The former mayor will apparently be tackling “the necessity for nationwide education reform, rebuilding the economy, developing urban infrastructure and remodeling the political arena.” Fenty’s speaking engagements will be arranged through Greater Talent Network, whose other clients include actor Danny Glover, filmmaker Michael Moore and Newark Mayor Cory Booker. Fenty’s speech is titled “Changing Tomorrow, Today: An Afternoon with Mayor Adrian Fenty.” Golly gee, that sure is uplifting.
