>> Under the direction of Omrao Brown, Bohemian Caverns is reclaiming its rightful place as the best jazz club in the District, drawing jazz legends on a regular basis while cultivating the local scene. Well, the apple does not fall far from the tree, as Brown’s father, Leonard Brown, is a respected saxophonist and jazz academic in the Boston area. The elder Brown’s band, Joyful Noise, will celebrate the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the club on Friday and Saturday with a program of spiritual-infused jazz. 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. sets. $18. At 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dr. Brown will host a lecture and book signing at the club for John Coltrane and Black America’s Quest For Freedom: Spirituality and the Music, a volume he edited.
