COMEDY: “Cool Dudes Hanging Out” is a Comedy Happy Hour at the Velvet Lounge (915 U Street NW) tonight, featuring Jared Logan, Kara Klenk, Tyler Richardson, Jeff Maurer and host Brandon Wardell. 7-9 p.m. $5.

MOVIES: E Street Cinema (555 11th Street NW) presents new films from Germany, Switzerland and Austria in their Film|Neu showcase, running tonight through the 27th. This evening, see When We Leave (Die Fremde), Germany’s official submission for Best Foreign Film in this year’s Academy Awards, at 10 p.m. $10.

FOOD & DRINK: Whether you missed D.C.’s Restaurant Week, or just can’t get enough of $35 three-course meals, head over to Virginia for Alexandria Restaurant Week, which begins tonight and runs through January 30th. Even better, some of the restaurants, like Overwood, are offering dinner for two at the $35 price.

FUNDRAISER: The National Press Club (529 14th Street NW) hosts Journopalooza, featuring seven bands (Dirty Bomb Nobody’s Business, NRBK, Rebecca & Peter, Stepping Stones, Suspicious Package and The Charm Offensive) and benefiting three good causes (Reporters Without Borders, CPJ Journalist Assistance Program and The Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library). Doors and the bar open at 6:30 p.m., the music starts at 7:30 p.m. $25 in advance, $35 at the door.
