Good morning, D.C. Yes, it’s gross and raining out there, but our neighbors to the north are getting hit with yet another snowstorm and think, a year ago today we were in the beginning of Snowpocalypse. Reminisce about that week off of work (if you’re a government worker) the crazy things you did because you had cabin fever, and likely the copious amount of booze you drank.

>> As we go through another weekend of track maintenance (this weekend the Red and Blue lines will see single tracking) news comes out that manual driving of metro trains will continue for at least another year. So yes, those jerky, come to a sudden stop trains will remain a part of your commute for a while now. Hold on tight.

>> D.C. has started to put up the city’s homeless in area hotels. D.C. is quick to point out that hotel rooms are typically paid for by charity groups and that putting homeless up in hotel’s isn’t a part of any new policy. You would think this is because of lack of shelter space. Interestingly, D.C.’s largest shelter, D.C. General shelter wasn’t at capacity as of last week. There were 145 units for 133 families.

>> Following an awful fire in SE on Buena Vista Terrace, a small child, conflicting reports say a 4-year-old boy or a 4 or 5 year old child, was killed last night due to injuries sustained in the fire. In particular saddening news, because of security bars on the building’s windows, it took firefighters much longer to get to the fire. The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined.
