Look, we get it. Not everyone is a big time football fan in Washington, D.C. — a fact that’s especially understandable, given the sad state that the home team has been languishing in over the last decade-plus. But the Super Bowl transcends football. It’s about commercials. And geography. And team names. And, uh, other stuff.

Overheard of the Week

Two young women on the Woodley Park Circulator Sunday night, shortly after the Super Bowl kickoff.

Woman 1: The driver said I look like a Packers fan!
Woman 2: Probably because you’re from the west coast. It’s crazy how this has turned into an east coast versus the west coast Superbowl!
Woman 1: Yeah. . . well, I think Green Bay is more midwest than west coast.
Woman 2: Wait, isn’t Green Bay in California?
Woman 1: No. Wisconsin.
Woman 2: Oh, okay. I think I must be getting them confused with the San Francisco 69ers.
Woman 1: 49ers.

After the jump: the staples of Overheard — tourists and Metro — plus a lot more Super Bowl party flubs.
