The Washington Humane Society is putting out a public call for information about a cat which they discovered suffering from some heinous animal abuse near Kenilworth-Parkside Recreation Center. The cat was apparently set on fire:
The poor feline suffered burns to her ears and body. WHS Animal Control Officer, Shawn Covington and WHS Humane Law Enforcement Officer, Jennifer Gardner found her on the 4000 block of Meade Street NE on Wednesday. Residents in the neighborhood say she is friendly and had been living in the community for a few months, and may have been someone’s family pet. She is now recovering from her injuries at a local animal hospital.
Ugh, sickening. The Humane Society has laid out a $1,000 reward for anyone able to provide information about the abuse that leads to an arrest and conviction. If you happened to see anything, WHS is asking tips be directed to Humane Law Enforcement Officer Jennifer Gardner at 202-723-5730 ext. 134 or via email.
