Are you sitting down? Good. Because what I’m about to tell you will probably make you incredibly depressed. Okay…here goes. [Deep breath.] According to Freeman Klopott, budget cuts may force the District’s Board of Elections and Ethics to cut the purchase of “I Voted” stickers in fiscal year 2012. Outrage! The Board says that they have enough stickers in inventory to last through the April 26 special election, which is good. But if they do cut the stickers come 2012, how are we supposed to prove to people that we care more about democracy then they do, huh?

Oh, right — and if the federal government shuts down for more than a few days, there probably won’t be an election. So, you know, keep an eye out for that.
