Photo by hannah.rosen.Do you ever think that we, as a society, might be getting a little too dependent on technology? It used to be embarrassing for some people to ask for directions on the way to their destination; now it feels like some people might not even know the first place to look without their pocket-sized information machines. Then again, why stand in the way of progress, when it’s obvious that some people are just eternally oblivious.
Overheard of the Week
On the Orange Line to New Carrolton, two young-ish college girls with heavy Long Island accents are using their iPhones in the sideways handicap seats with a Metro map directly behind their heads:
Girl 1: “And see, this app show that the next station is Capitol South.”
Girl 2: “That’s so cool — and what station comes after that?”
Girl 1: “I don’t know, my phone just died — can you check on yours?”
After the jump: small talk is hard, breakfast cereal, and the most creative Justin Bieber analogy we’ve ever seen.
