UPDATE: Preliminary reports indicate that the man who was struck intentionally placed himself in front of an incoming train. He was responsive after being removed from under the train and was taken to Suburban Hospital for treatment. A person was apparently struck by a train this afternoon at the Rockville Metro station. WTOP’s Adam Tuss reports that the person who was struck has suffered life-threatening injuries. Metro has temporarily closed the station, and trains on the Red Line are currently single-tracking between Shady Grove and Twinbrook due to the incident. Riders should expect delays this afternoon as the investigation proceeds.
