Photo by Kevin H.We’ve written before about the MuralsDC program; last October they unveiled seven new murals around the city. This partnership between the D.C. Commission on Arts and Humanities and the Department of Public Works recruits local artists and youth as “a graffiti prevention program that replaces illegally tagged spaces with beautiful murals.”
Now MuralsDC is looking towards commercial property owners to provide their next spaces. They hope to find volunteers with property that has been “spray painted with graffiti and who would like to replace it with (or donate wall space to house) a mural at no cost to them.” The murals are meant to stop the “seemingly endless cycle of graffiti” and help out business owners who spend money to paint and repaint over tagged wells.
Click over to the DPW site for more information on submitting your property for a mural; applications must be in by April 15.
