In February, we heard about the next television show featuring life in the District. Georgetown is slated to be a “primetime soap about young people behind the power brokers of D.C.” We have a little update now, via this reader-submitted image of a letter that went out to Georgetown residents a couple weeks ago.
Bonanza Productions, Inc. is currently in pre-production of the pilot episode of a new television series for ABC entitled “Georgetown”. The series follows four young people living and working in Washington DC, but will be filmed primarily in New York. It is being produced by the creative teams behind “Gossip Girl” and “The O.C.”
But that’s not all! They’ve decided to give the pilot a fleeting moment of on-location time, and would like to use a neighborhood house film it. [Update: A little confusion from the reader’s email: this letter was distributed in Park Slope. Our reader was amused because he just moved from Georgetown a few months ago, with the production company asking to use his new NYC neighborhood to fake his old one. So, no on-location time for D.C. at all, it seems!] “We are looking for an apartment of a brownstone/townhouse to film for ONE day on either March 21, 2011 or March 22, 2011.” However, given the dates, we assume they’ve probably selected a site already (plus our tipster whited out the contact info for some reason, perhaps to eliminate competition?), so do tell readers: which one of you offered your abode for filming?? More importantly, who’s planning to watch? This editor cannot tell a lie: if Georgetown is Washington’s version of The O.C., I’ll be queueing that pilot up on Hulu for sure, until it turns into the third season of Gossip Girl at which point I’ll indignantly unsubscribe from it.
