…but were afraid to ask. Sunday at 2 a.m., we spring forward, which means we lose an hour of precious sleep, and also precious drinking time. But, not so fast – the D.C. Council has thought ahead for us.

Bars and restaurants can serve alcohol to patrons until 4 a.m. Sunday. D.C. will collect a $100 fee from businesses interested in the extension.

But what about getting home? Did the Metro think to extend its service to accommodate the riders who could enjoy an extra hour of drinking? Well they might have thought about it, but they didn’t implement it. Metro will not be extending its service, which means instead of closing at the usual 3 a.m., it will close at 2 a.m. when the clocks spring forward. So keep this in mind.
