On Saturday, a portion of 14th Street NW between F and G Streets collapsed due to a water main break, closing the road to traffic for a short portion of time. DDOT said that they’d need to make more permanent repairs over the next few days — and one look at the size of the hole explains why those more extensive repairs are necessary. (Luckily, your run-of-the-mill pothole can usually be patched up much faster.)

Our advice? Better keep the popcorn trucks away until the work’s finished.
