I realize that many of you think we need another burger joint in this city like we need a hole drilled into our skulls, but — like it or not — Shake Shack coming to town is kind of a big deal. Today, DCist reader Amy Bocian spotted this sign outside of what will surely be the scene of long queues for the Shack’s vaunted griddle burgers, onion rings and krinkle-cut fries at 1216 18th Street NW. Given that other highly-anticipated chains say they are going to move in to D.C., only to stall ad infinitum on delivery, the fact that Shake Shack is now hiring is a welcome sign. The original estimate for the opening of the “roadside” burger joint was sometime during the first half of this year.
