An electric cable serving the western end of the National Mall was damaged last night, causing a blackout at the Lincoln Memorial, the Korean War Memorial and other areas around the Reflecting Pool. The image was somewhat bizzarre, as you might imagine. NBCWashington.com was able to capture some video — if anything, it was at least an interesting, if totally accidental, tribute to Tuesday’s 150th anniversary of the Fort Sumter siege which started the Civil War.
