In case it’s slipped your mind, tomorrow marks the observation of Emancipation Day in the District — which means that most of the city’s workers will be taking the day off. Schools, the Council, trash and recycling collection crews, street sweepers and parking enforcement officers, among others are all taking a holiday tomorrow. Tomorrow is also the second day of city employee furloughs that were instituted last year to save the District $19 million. (Cops, firefighters, and most emergency personnel are all still on the clock.)

On the plus side, those of you that still haven’t finished your federal income taxes have Emancipation Day to thank for a little extra time to file.
