The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority announced today that passengers can now access free wireless internet at both National and Dulles — the first time since networks were installed at the airports in 2007 that the service will be free for everyone, regardless of whether or not they have a subscription to a major wireless carrier. Just choose “Reagan National Complimentary Wifi” or “Dulles Airport Complimentary Wifi” — easy enough.

The best part of the story: according to WTOP, “there will still be an option to select a paid wireless provider for access.” This either means that the wireless is of slightly subpar quality, or the MWAA is banking on there being a huge uptick in the number of Ned Flanders types coming through its airports’ doors.
