No, really: have you seen Sulaimon Brown? If so, Mary Cheh would really appreciate it if you would let her know.

As you may recall, Cheh is attempting to serve Brown with a subpoena so that he’ll testify in front of the Council about his allegations that the Gray campaign paid him and promised him a job during last fall’s mayoral election. But according to WAMU, the an outside firm hired by the Council’s Office of the Secretary hasn’t been able to locate, let alone serve, Brown:

Council member Mary Cheh, who is leading the council’s investigation into the administration’s hiring practices, says Brown is clearly playing a game of hide-and-seek.

“If he’s maintaining that hes not, let him come forward and we will hand it to him right here,” says Cheh. “Let him come here and I’ll give it to him right here.

Reached by cell phone, Brown says he is not avoiding the subpoena but has no plans of cooperating with the council. The next hearing on the administration’s personnel practices, the one Brown may or may not make, is scheduled for Friday.

Brown actually showed up at the Wilson Building during a Cheh hearing on April 7, and also made a public appearance at the Capitol Police precinct where Mayor Vince Gray was being processed after being arrested on April 11. Since he appears to have difficulty staying away from the spotlight of the press, perhaps Cheh could convince the Mayor to host a fake presser and then have staffers pop up from behind the podium when Brown appears?
