Photo by LaTur.The RAMMY Awards from the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) are the Emmys for D.C. area restaurants. This year, three RAMMY categories are determined by a public vote: “Hottest Restaurant Bar Scene,” “Neighborhood Gathering Place” and “Power Spot.” In order to facilitate voting, a number of the nominees will be hosting promotions to “get the vote out.”
Here are those promotions. Read carefully, however: some of the promotions are fairly similar to the restaurants’ normal Happy Hour deals, though many feature some small additions or longer hours.
April 28
>> Bar Pilar (1833 14th Street NW) is throwing a Neighborhood Block Party from 5-10 p.m., featuring cocktail specials, food specials and the return of their photo booth. Photos will be free to all who cast a vote for the restaurant.
>> Bastille (1201 North Royal Street, Alexandria) will be offering happy hour pricing all day — cocktails will range from $6 to $6.50.
April 29
>> PS 7’s (777 I Street NW) will be hosting a Voting Punch Party, with a variety of punches for $7 each, as well as burgers and flatbreads for half-price.
May 5
>> Carmine’s (425 Seventh Street NW) will be hosting a Power Party from 4-7 p.m., featuring cocktail and appetizer specials; surprise “Power Guests,” and tours of the restaurant’s Secret Service entrance for all who vote.
April 28-May 5
>> Bombay Club (815 Connecticut Avenue NW) will be offering a $10 Power Cocktail made with 2 oz. of Bank’s Rum, .5 oz. of Orange Curacao, .75 oz of house made raspberry syrup and .5 oz. of fresh squeezed lemon juice.
>> Equinox (818 Connecticut Avenue NW) will host a Power Hour from 5-6 p.m., which includes cocktail specials and free bar munchies for those who have voted.
Masa 14 (1825 14th Street NW) is offering a drink and food special for a discounted price of $10, which includes a choice of Mango Mojito or Mojito Traditional, and Spicy Tuna Temaki Hand Roll or Mango Summer Rolls.
Polls open at 12:01 a.m. on April 28, and votes can be cast at the City Paper’s site through 11:59 p.m. on May 11. One vote is permitted in each category per individual email address. The ballots will be audited by Thompson Greenspan (so we won’t have any ballot box stuffing, right?) and the winners will be announced at the awards ceremoney on June 26 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel.
