Bryan Sivak, who took over the city’s troubled Office of the Chief Technology Officer in 2009 and returned it to respectability before emotionally leaving office last December, has accepted a job as Maryland’s first Chief Innovation Officer. Sivak, who has been dubbed a “Gov 2.0 Hero,” tweeted the news this morning.

While in office, Sivak oversaw the development of several projects, like the city’s online service request center and the incredibly useful TrackDC. Sivak joins former District Department of Transportation director Gabe Klein — who will be the next director of Chicago’s DOT under new Mayor Rahm Emanuel — as high-profile Fenty agency heads to accept prominent positions outside the District.
