UPDATE: In his address, President Obama confirmed that bin Laden had been killed in Pakistan today, in the culmination of a months-long operation which began thanks to a tip received last August. No American forces were harmed during the undertaking of today’s operation. “Justice has been done,” said the President. “Bin Laden wasn’t a Muslim leader. He was a mass murderer of Muslims.” A large group of people has gathered in front of the White House to celebrate the news; we have a photographer en route and will hopefully have images to share with you tomorrow morning.

The New York Times, among several other media sources, is reporting that Osama bin Laden has been killed during a U.S. military operation. United States forces reportedly have bin Laden’s body in custody.

President Barack Obama is preparing to address the country shortly and explain to the country how bin Laden was killed — you can stream a live feed of Obama’s announcement here.
