The AP is reporting on a slight bump that has delayed the National Park Service and the District Department of Transportation from finishing a bridge along Washington’s Anacostia Riverwalk. Officials say a pair of ospreys have built a nest and are incubating eggs on top of a construction crane. The new home, which DDOT jokes as having “unobstructed river views and cheap rent in DC” will stop workers from using the crane, that is until the nest is abandoned at the end of the nesting season. Maybe some of the new swarm of incoming D.C. interns can learn a few things from these birds when it comes to housing — Anacostia isn’t so bad after all.
DDOT has uploaded a Flickr gallery featuring the the love birds and their future chicks-to-be.
