Finding your way from 14th and U NW to the Capital City Diner just got easier. It’s taken nearly two and a half years, but finally, Google Maps now features WMATA information in its directions. (WMATA and Google are scheduled to make a joint announcement tomorrow regarding “technology improvements that will benefit Metrorail and Metrobus riders,” or, you know, this.)
Until today, getting WMATA directions was one of the few reasons this editor ever used Google competitor Bing, as they’ve had WMATA directions for quite a while now. In 2008, if you’ll recall, Metro said that “forming a partnership with Google was not in our best interest from a business perspective.” In December of that year, Greater Greater Washington started a petition to encourage Google to include the information, and after a lengthy process, it has finally arrived.
Now: who can come up with the most convoluted trip? (Don’t forget to use MARC and the Circulator!)
